Well, This project is loosely based upon the
website 43Things
(which allows you to set and track personal goals) and the Stephen Abram article
titled 43
Things I (or You) might want to do this year (Information Outlook - Feb 2006).

I plan on using creative commons in my classroom by making sure I stay within the law's of educational use. Creative Commons is a great site to be able to check on any material they use the classroom to make sure that it's legal and fair to use . this will be especially important for me considering that I love public television and I would love to share. I now know the proper steps to take to own media legally.

Thing #22
http://www.livebinders.com/play/play?id=874235
Livebinders is another awesome way to keep up with all your teacher resources and classroom lessons. It is not as easy to use as, Delicious, Diigo but, it is the sharing of Word documents that makes this site so great. However it is a great organizational tool for any classroom teacher. Live binders is a great way to share your organizational skills with other teachers, as well as you learning from other teachers organization skills. Livebinders is a great resource for any teacher.
Thing #17
I think Delicious is a great account for teachers not unlike the live binders. Teachers can keep up with all the websites they use for the classroom. I realized as well that it's a great research tool as a student. If I was to used it to assist in my classroom, I would use it to keep track of all the websites for particular lessons and tag them appropriately so that I could come back and find them easily.
Thing #16
I chose to use iGoogle for my homepage. I was able to add a todo list and a calendar along with many other neat gadgets. One of the great features of the calendar is it actually sets the alarm for you that you can use when you have certain events coming up. IGoogle is a great way for students to keep track of everything, whether personal or academically.
Thing #14
I explored bubbl.us and I used it as a template to my interactive PowerPoint assignment. I also used Gliffy. Out of all the flowcharts in mind maps that I used bubble. us was probably my most favorite. I loved the various colors and the easiness of making sibling bubbles and parent bubbles. This would be an awesome site to show students who are writing papers or have some kind of brainstorming assignment that these be completed.
Thing #24 The End!!
Oh my, what an adventure we have been on. My favorite post
in 23 things for teachers would have to be Animoto video I made of my
daughter. Most of the entire overall journey was a great experience and I have
gained valuable resources in my career as art teacher. As a lifelong learner,
creating a blog is a great way to get my ideas out there and to get
constructive feedback. Being a feature art teacher, I have discovered that the
computer has more to offer me than expected. I definitely plan to keep up with 2.0
by continuing research. I have gained a valuable, limitless resource in
technology through 23 things for teachers.

This was just a fun blog to do! I enjoyed creating a video of my daughter, and she liked it as well! I can see using this as a class project or may be something to endorse the school. I can see using this is an art project, a group project, discussing are many art styles and likes.

The link below takes you to a Kandinsky art lesson. YouTube
is a great way for visual learners to have resources other than just the lecture
and demonstration in class. As an art classroom teacher, YouTube is a very
resourceful teacher’s tool to use for the visual learner and as most people
know, art students are visual learners. YouTube is the first place I go to, when
I need to know “how to”.

Thing #19
I am a member of Teacher pop and Last.fm, out of all the social sites I explored teacher pop would have to be most useful to me. While I was exploring teacher pop, I was a little confused on how to actually add the Ning badge to my blog. I was however able to upload photos as well as had a world timer onto my page. Teacher pop is definitely a great social site for teachers and future teachers.
Thing #18
I think one of the main reasons why educators know how social networking works is bullying. Social networking sites allow students to bully without interference from their teachers. I feel that parents are doing a better job than before when supervising their children's Facebook pages. When I was exploring the social networking sites it is obvious that Facebook is the most popular. Facebook is what I use and I like it because it's easy to use. It's easy to control privacy settings and I'm able to display only what I want on my page. I can see using Facebook for a classroom page so students and I are able to communicate back and forth at any given time.

Wiki's are a excellent way to share information with your class. One of the great ways you can use a wiki for the classroom is with group projects. Students can collaborate back and forth with each other on their own pages. The only problem I see with using a wiki is that it is to open, I would really have to keep a watch over what students put on their page. I also think wikis are a great way to get constructive feedback. The link below is a wiki space that I discovered, it is a great resource for any art teacher.

Thing #12
The google calendar is something I never really considered before since we have a pretty great calendar on our e-mail service, Microsoft. However I have to admit google calendar has a better layout than Microsoft and I like the quick add button, where you can just put in the facts and it automatically fills it in for you. Google calendars are an excellent way for students to keep track of assignments and up coming events.
https://www.google.com/calendar
Google alert is a great way to have information come to you. I signed up for email alerts for any upcoming art shows in Nashville. The google translate is also a good option, but I would not fully rely on its translations. Students could use Google alerts keep informed of interest and anything that would be beneficial to their major.

When I was exploring websites in edublogawards, I discovered a winning student blog called http://emilysblog3s.edublogs.org/. She seems to be a very interesting young lady. http://www.google.com/blogsearch was the easiest to use for me. I looked over http://www.topix.net/ and found the page a little overloaded, kinda like the way to much power points we discussed in class. I came across many useful feeds such as artismessy.org and this pdf cats-pyjamas.net from Joyce Seitzinger’s Moodle Tool Guide for Teachers.
Thing #10
What I like best about RSS and newsreaders is that it is an easy way to keep informed. They are also great for keeping up with the latest news and personal interest without having to search for them. Teachers can keep up with the latest educational news and trends. Feedforall.com tells us, "From elementary schools to university blogs, online journals have flourished. Instructors have used blogging as a teaching tool. Helping students learn writing and reporting skills while understanding how to use technology. Many educational bloggers use RSS as a means to syndicate blog posts". During my research of thing #10 I have come to realize how beneficial RSS and newsreaders really are, especially with teachers. Educational-feeds is another great resource for emerging teachers.
Thing #9
I created this for my daughter, Grace. I used customsigngenerator to create it. This generator was a tad bit more difficult to use than spiffytext. The problem was getting it centered as much as possible.
This particular generator had many different sites I enjoyed exploring. I would recommend using this generator for older students. This would make a great art lesson for students who were about to get their driver's license.
I chose spiffytext to make this one. This generator was very simple to use
and it was fun choosing the different backgrounds and text. This generator would be great for younger students to use. My daughter Grace is six and she loves to use this generator to play around with just for fun. This would also make a great introduction to computer technology for little ones.
Thing #8
Students would love to use these sites! I chose spell with flickr to explore. It was so easy, you just type in text and that is it! If you don't like a particular letter just click it and it will change to one you like better. Great for young children learning to spell or as an introduction to computer technology. A perfect for an art assignment for older children. This site is also great because you wouldn't have to worry about photo sharing.
Thing #7
This is a picture of my little brother; I just love his
smile and facial expression in it. Flickr was fairly easy to use. I did have
some trouble with the correct URL but I was able to fix it quickly.
Thing #6
I selected googleartproject as my site to explore, I have seen this site before but I have never really explored it till today. There wasn't anything I disliked about the site, Google art project allows you to explore museum all around the world without leaving your desk. The museum I enjoyed the best was
smithsonian-american-art-museum. The best feature was the virtual tool, it allows you to "walk through" the gallery.
I can see using this as a lesson plan or webquest site in my classroom. I think the students would love to explore the different museums around the world!
Thing #5
The Machine is Us/ing Us video was fantastic! It was also
the simplest ways to explain web 2.0. "School 2.0" to me means the
students of today have a vast and limitless source for education. When I was
growing up in school, we didn't have computers in the classroom. The closest I
came to using a computer in school was my junior or senior year, I played the
Oregon Trail software, floppy disk and all!
In the future,
students will still be able to attend class if they are sick or disabled.
Classes could come together with other classes or educators could teach class from
around the world. The possibilities are endless.
Thing #4
Commenting helps create a sense of community through thoughtfully reading the blogs. By doing this you can get to know your fellow classmates and they get to know you as well. Commenting on each other's blog is a great way to give and receive constructive criticism. One of the things that I found interesting was what Vicki Davis wrote on her blog, coolcatteacher, write a meaningful comment. I think it is so important to write something considerate, thoughtful and that is knowledgeable. The second point in the readings is from problogger, asking specific questions in posts. This is a great way to find out how other people feel about a certain subject or problem you may have. I chose these blogs to comment on vwinn23things, lancaster23things, kanikaapsu23things, mcneily23things and shammontrees23things. These blogs had a certain subject I felt compled to comment on and some of them were just entertaining.
The other two outside blogs I chose to use are:
www.danoah.com
I have been following this blog for about 4 months now. It is about a single dad who recently "came out". He is wildly entertaining and finds humor in life's daily struggles.
http://msnoren.blogspot.com/
This site is a wonderful resource for teachers, Not only is her blog useful but if click on complete profile, you can see all the blogs she follows. The list is practically endless!
Thing #3
I would definitely use a blog in my future classroom. I think it is a great way to keep in touch with my students and their parents. A blog will allow me to show the parents past art projects that we have produced in class o are producing at the moment. I follow several teacher and artist blogs on Pintrest. One blog in particular is http://msnoren.blogspot.com/, She is a 3rd grade Reading and Language Arts teacher in Texas. She uses her blog to share what is happening in her 3rd grade classroom.

Thing #2
Creating my blog
was fairly easy for me. I have used a personal blog before with Blogger and
WordPress. I think that Blogger is easier to set up than Wordpress. I remember
the set up taking a little longer. I decided to just use my full name to use as
my posting name. If I use a blog in my future classroom, I would definitely use
a better name. A name that would stand out and gain interest from my students.
My avatar was not so easy to create but eventually I figured it out. I think my
avatar totally reflects my personality. I am an easy going type of person, just
as the avatar reflects.

The Seven and
1/2 Habits of Highly Successful Lifelong Learners is an excellent tutorial for
emerging teachers. There are two habits I found to be the easiest. Habit two,
accept responsibility for your own learning and habit three, viewing problems
as challenges. Both of these habits come naturally to me. The hardest habit
would probably have to be six, using technology to your advantage. I know that
technology is a wonderful resource for students and teachers alike; I think that I
could use my computer in many ways to further educate myself and my future
students. I know that lifelong learning is an ongoing process. I am a woman in
my thirties and this is my second try at college so, I know that a person's
education is never truly over. We as people, learn new things every day for the rest of our lives.
